Our client is a major global corporate within the technology industry and they are seeking a strong technical accountant to join their statutory accounting team. The role is responsible for all statutory compliance for UK legal entities and driving financial stewardship of these companies through adherence and compliance to accounting policies, UK and International Accounting Standards and tax legislation. It also requires close partnership with the financial controlling team to assist in the management and accuracy of the UK P&L and involvement in ad-hoc projects. The position is based in Reading and the contract will run until 30th June 2016, with the potential to extend. It will pay a market salary/day rate.
Job Description:
- Managing relationship with the outsourced service provider for outsourced statutory accounting processes.
- Responsible for managing the UK entity balance sheets, including review of all balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Reviewing local systems and financial controls.
- Assess any changes in tax laws, UK Company law and accounting policies to assess any impact.
- Periodic review of marketing activities to identify any tax exposure and initiating remedial action where necessary.
- Maintaining relationship with local banks and other Group companies for in-house cash facilities.
- Overseeing and maintaining the local UK bank account process.
- Review of and input into Monthly Cash flow forecasting.
- Direct and Indirect Tax Compliance.
- Management of an efficient statutory audit process, working closely with the external auditors.
- Ensuring atimely completion of the annual statutory accounts for the UK subsidiaries.
- Payroll, incentives & share based payments.
- Supporting the Financial Controller with ad-hoc requests.
Skills/Experience:
- Minimum 2:1 degree-level.
- Professionally qualified accountant (ACApreferred).
- Proven experience within a financial accounting/auditing role.
- Corporate and employee tax understanding.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, includingUKGAAP,IFRSand ideally USGAAP.
- Demonstrated high level of skill and knowledge in the following: Statutory accounting, External audit, Corporation tax, VAT and Payroll taxes.
- Exceptional communication, cross group collaboration and interpersonal skills.
- Highly developed analytical andorganisationalskills.
- Ability to maintain independence, autonomy and confidentiality.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Pro-active self-starter.
