We support adults with learning disabilities in their own homes in the Sheffield area and are looking to increase our bank staff. All the people we support have busy and active lives and varying degrees of learning disabilities.
As a Bank Support Worker you fulfil a valuable role in providing cover for permanent members of our staff teams over holidays and periods of sickness absence. You will be one of several staff on our Bank list who we will contact to cover shifts as and when required. If you are passionate about supporting people and enthusiastic about supporting others to achieve their goals we want to hear from you. Being a Support Worker is very practical. You will work hard to ensure the people you support take an active role in their community. You will need to have a flexible approach and be happy to think of and try different ideas if your first ideas don't work. And to work as part of a team. Supporting people with learning disabilities can be challenging and it is also extremely rewarding. If you are looking for a role where you can really make a difference to people's lives, apply today. If you have experience of supporting people, either in a paid or unpaid capacity, that is great. If you don't, as long as you are committed, enthusiastic, value people compassionate and willing to learn you don't need any formal experience. We will provide you with all the training and support you need.
As well as valuing the people we support we value our staff. We want you to have all the skills you need to support people in the best way possible so we provide all the training you need to do this (We pay you to attend all of the training). You will work closely with the rest of your team, supported by a Senior Support Worker and a Support Manager
There are no standard hours for this post as it is providing cover for shifts as and when required. We support people on a rota system depending on their assessed needs. The rota typically covers 365 days a year including bank holidays and other annual holidays and festivals. It is also a requirement for many people to be supported through the night and the successful Bank Support Workers may be requested to sleep-in at the property. Enhancements are paid for weekend work and sleep-ins.
