Description

Group Financial Reporting & Advisory incorporates the Financial Reporting and Accounting Policy teams and is responsible for: 

(1) Preparing and analysing the Group's external financial reporting, including the format of the financial reporting elements of the Group's Annual Report and Half Year report; 

(2) Providing support to the other Group functions, such as Corporate Development, Treasury and Tax; 

(3) Establishing and implementing the Group accounting policies, together with associated guidance, and providing training across the Group's network 

(4) Participating in the debate on accounting and disclosure changes, through internal and external forums and the submission of comment letters, enabling the Group to ensure these best represent the Group's position. 

Key Roles & Responsibilities 
This role is one which covers all of the broad activities outlined above and represents a bridge between the Financial Reporting team and the Accounting Policy team. The objective of this bridge role is to ensure that the transactions accounting policies that are covered within the Accounting Policy arm of the team are effectively incorporated within the Group's Financial Reporting. The successful candidate should therefore have a keen interest in Accounting Policy and Financial Reporting and be able practically apply and explain the Group's policies in respect of the Group's external financial reporting output. 

The breadth of this role offers the successful candidate the opportunity to provide a valuable and visible contribution to the Group Finance team and to demonstrate the depth of knowledge in terms of Accounting Policy as well as Financial Reporting. 

This role has a number of responsibilities: 

(a) providing support to the wider Financial Reporting team, advising on disclosures in the Annual and Interim reports, together with the required amendments and guidance in respect of the Group reporting packs; 

(b) assisting in the review and analysis of the Group's results and balances reported in its Interim and Annual Reports and at quarter ends, taking responsibility for certain sections of the Annual Report 

(c) contributing to the development of the Group's accounting policies, including the Group's Accounting Policy Manual and assisting with the application of accounting policies across the Group, together with the provision of advisory support to the functions and the country and business finance teams. 

(d) Preparation of training for and knowledge transfer to the Global finance community through interactive presentations and newsletters in respect of developing accounting standards and application of the Group's policies 

(e) Liaising with the Central Policy Unit to ensure consistent application of policies. 

(f) Engaging effectively with internal and external auditors.

Profile

The successful candidate will have the following: 

Must be a finance professional, qualified to Chartered Accountant level or equivalent, with a solid performance track record, plus at least newly qualified to 2 years post qualification experience. 

Have an in depth and practical understanding of accounting principles and IFRS accounting standards as a whole and in particular those relating to financial institutions. 

Have been involved in Financial Reporting at a Group level, or at the level of a large subsidiary, in terms of preparing and analysing results 

Be pro-active and be able to think laterally and strategically and have strong analytical skills 

Be able to use a toolkit to find solutions and be adept at research 

Have excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact with all levels of staff and different cultures.

Job Offer

Base Salary: 45,000GBP - 55,000FBP
