Female Senior Support Worker

Could you help?   Since 1991 Affinity Trust has been committed to ensuring people with learning disabilities receive high quality, tailored support that best fulfils their needs. We support around 700 adults across 30 local authority areas. We are looking for a Senior Support Worker who will be based in the Ilkley area supporting in two adjacent houses, one where two women live and other where two men live. 
Are you an experienced support worker who enjoys your role supporting and enabling people with learning disabilities to live the life they want to lead? Would you like to be more involved in organising the support they receive?   As a Senior Support Worker you will be an active member of the management team in this area, organising rotas and carrying out 1 to 1 meetings and performance reviews and supporting workers to carry out their role. You will be supported to undertake needs and risk assessments and you will be involved in developing support plans. The role gives you the ideal opportunity to develop your skills for moving onto Team Leader /Support Manager roles.   This post requires the postholder to be over the age of 25 and hold a full clean valid UK driving licence due to one of the ladies having a Motability vehicle. The postholder also needs to have a vehicle and be willing to use this for work purposes.   We are looking for a Female Senior Support Worker to oversee and be part of a team supporting two women in one house and two men in the house next door in the Ben Rhydding area of Ilkley. All four people are moving into independent homes for the first time. We are looking for someone who is committed to supporting these people achieve their wishes and goals in life, maximise their independence and help them maintain strong links with their families and friends. All the people we are supporting have busy lives and a variety of interests, some of which they will require support with. We require a Female Senior Support Worker due to the personal care requirements of the female tenants.   The successful postholder also needs to have experience and knowledge about working with people with Autism Spectrum Disorder.   E (female) is 32 and likes to interact with positive upbeat people. She enjoys meals out, drinks in the pub, discos, theatre and cinema. She has a great memory for detail and has a very close relationship with her family.E uses a wheelchair on occasions to assist with her mobility.   T (female) is 20 and is a friendly and lively young person who likes to socialise but who also needs her own space. She accesses employment opportunities four days a week and is supported to travel to these.   L (male) is 23 years old. He has a job at an online optician which he really enjoys. He needs support with all areas of daily living currently but would really like to develop his cooking skills. He would also like to have a social life and meet new people and take part in leisure opportunities.   J (male) is close to his family and is currently studying at Craven College for an Introduction Certificate to the Hosptality Industry. He likes going to karate and enjoys sport in general. He also enjoys food and cooking and requires support with this.   
To be successful you will be passionate about providing high quality care and support and you will have experience in providing effective support. Flexible and creative when it comes to problem solving or thinking around issues, you will also be able to demonstrate your great organisation and communication skills and your ability to support a small team. You will also need to be female, over the age of 25 and hold a full clean valid UK driving licence. 
As a Senior Support Worker you will receive a very detailed induction and training and complete shadow shifts before working with the people we support. New staff who have not previously worked in care are supported through the nationally recognised Care Certificate.   Your training is specifically tailored to enable you to support the people you work with. When attending training courses you are paid your normal hourly rate of pay.
The support for the four people will be co-ordinated on an rota basis. The postholder will need to be fully flexible in the times and days they can work. The postholder may also be asked to cover in other areas of the Affinity Trust support services. The rota typically covers 365 days a year including bank holidays and other annual holidays and festivals. It is also a requirement for the two women to be supported through the night and the successful staff members would be requested to sleep-in at the property. Enhancements are paid for weekend work and sleep-ins.
